What this page does

The Passkey Manager (/settings/user-practitioner/edit-user/{userQuery}/passkey-manager/) manages WebAuthn passkeys for a staff member's sign-in. Passkeys let someone sign in using their device's built-in security — such as a fingerprint, face unlock, or security key — instead of typing a password.

What you'll learn
  • What a passkey is and why it's more secure than a password
  • How to register a new passkey for a user
  • How to remove a passkey that's already registered
  • Where to go for related sign-in and verification topics

Why passkeys

A stronger, phishing-resistant alternative to passwords Passkeys are tied to the physical device that created them and can't be phished the way a typed password can, since there's no shared secret to trick someone into revealing. Registering a passkey gives a staff member a stronger way to sign in without replacing their password entirely.

Managing passkeys

From this page you can see which passkeys are already registered to the account and remove one if it's no longer needed — for example, if the device it was registered on was lost or replaced.
