What this guide helps you do

A service cost estimate turns the products used during one service into an estimated consumable cost. ClinyPal then compares that total with the service price to show estimated profit and profit margin. It is a planning estimate, so keep product costs and units current and review the result when purchasing or treatment methods change.

In this guide
  • Prepare products so they can be included
  • Add and remove products used by the service
  • Choose the right consumption method for each product
  • Read estimated cost, profit, and margin
  • Save and verify the estimate

Before you begin

  • Open the required billable service and choose View cost estimate.
  • Make sure every product you intend to use has a cost price, unit type, and unit value at the current location.
  • Confirm the service selling price first; profit and margin are compared with that price.

Add the products used by the service

Search shows products with enough cost and unit information to be used in the estimate. Adding a product does not change stock; it describes expected consumption when this service is delivered.

1

Search for a product

Use Search products and select the item normally consumed during the service.

2

Check its unit information

Confirm the displayed unit value and short unit name match how the product is purchased or measured.

3

Add every relevant consumable

Repeat for each product whose cost should contribute to the estimate. The selected count updates as products are added.

4

Remove a mistake

Use the delete action beside a selected product before saving if it does not belong in this service.

Products missing cost or unit details If the warning says all products at this location are missing cost or unit details, update each product’s cost price, unit type, and unit value before using the estimator.

Describe how much of each product is consumed

Enter a non-negative value and choose the method that best represents normal use. The estimated cost for the row and the totals above update as the value or method changes.

ChoiceUse it whenWhat the value means
Product unitYou consume part of the product’s recorded unit value. The amount used in the displayed unit, such as a measured volume or weight.
Flat rateYou already know the fixed consumable cost to allow for this item.A currency amount added directly to the service estimate.
%Only a percentage of the product cost should be allowed for.The percentage of that product’s cost price.
QuantityYou consume whole purchasable units. The number of units multiplied by the product cost price.

Review the result and save it

1

Check the total estimated consumable cost

Confirm it is plausible for one delivery of the service and inspect any row that looks unusually high or low.

2

Compare cost with the service price

Estimated profit is the service price minus the estimated consumable cost. Profit margin shows that difference as a percentage of the service price.

3

Choose Save changes

Saving stores the selected products, consumption methods, values, and calculated costs for this service.

4

Confirm success

Wait for the success message, then reopen the estimate and verify the saved products and values.

Things worth knowing

  • The estimate covers the products listed here. It does not automatically include staff time, rent, payment fees, or other overheads.
  • A zero service price produces a zero displayed margin; review the service price rather than interpreting that as a profitable result.
  • Update the estimate when product costs, pack sizes, treatment methods, or the service price change.
  • If saving fails, keep the current values visible, try again after checking the connection, and confirm the saved result before leaving.
