Archiving a patient

Most of the time, archiving is what you want — a patient who's no longer active moves out of your day-to-day list, while every appointment, invoice, and note they have stays exactly as it was.

Find the patient in your patient list and choose Archive. They're immediately marked inactive and drop out of everyday searches, while still being reachable if you filter to show archived patients.

Restoring an archived patient

If a patient comes back or was archived by mistake, filter your patient list to Archived, find them, and choose Unarchive. They return to your active list with everything intact.

Deleting a patient

Deleting is different — it's permanent, and it's only offered once a patient is already archived, so it's never a one-click accident. Open the archived patient and choose Delete.

You'll be asked to type the patient's full name to confirm. This is deliberate friction — deleting is permanent, so ClinyPal makes sure it's genuinely what you mean to do.

Deleting permanently removes their treatment notes, letters, forms, file attachments, communication history, medical alerts, health records, vital signs, consent forms, and recalls. Their appointments are de-identified and taken off the calendar rather than kept under their name. Invoices and payments are the one exception — they're kept for your financial records and are not deleted.

This can't be undone Once a patient is deleted, their record, documents, and history are gone. If there's any chance you'll need the record again, archive instead.
