A short, simple list with an outsized effect on clarity
Unavailable Block Types define the categories available whenever someone blocks time on the scheduler — Lunch, Holiday, Training, or whatever labels make sense for how your clinic actually operates. Go to Settings > Unavailable Block Types to manage them.
This is a deliberately small settings page — there's no duration, mode, or form logic to configure here, unlike Appointment Types (Settings). Its whole job is to keep the block drawer's type dropdown meaningful rather than generic. A clinic that never customizes this list ends up with every block simply labeled "Unavailable," which tells a receptionist nothing about whether a gap in the schedule is a lunch break, a holiday, or something else worth asking about before assuming a slot is truly free later.

Adding a block type
Click Add
Opens the block type drawer.
Enter a name
For example, Lunch, Holiday, or Training.
Choose a color, if available
Pick a color to distinguish this block type on the scheduler.
Save
Save the new block type. It's now selectable in the block drawer on the scheduler.
Most clinics only need a handful of entries — three to six covers the majority of cases. A long, overly granular list (separate types for every conceivable reason someone might be out) tends to slow down the person creating a block more than it helps, since they now have to scroll and choose rather than picking from a short, obvious set.
Editing or removing a block type
Select an existing block type from the grid to edit its name or color, or to remove it. Renaming a type updates its label everywhere it's already been used on the scheduler, so a rename is safe to make without worrying about breaking existing blocks.
